What is the difference between MKPD and MKPH?

MKPD uses copper terminal structures for direct, low-inductance connection near power-semiconductor assemblies. MKPH uses parallel wire leads for compact PCB mounting.

How should capacitance be selected?

Start from the required snubber energy and waveform, then verify rated voltage, pulse slope, peak current, RMS current, temperature and available dimensions against one row in the voltage-specific matrix.

How is peak current checked?

For the published matrix, Ipeak follows the relationship Ipeak = C × dV/dt. The circuit loop, terminal arrangement and thermal conditions must also remain within the listed limits.

Why are ESR and ESL important?

ESR contributes to high-frequency loss and temperature rise. ESL and the external mounting loop influence switching overshoot and ringing.

Where should the capacitor be mounted?

Place it close to the IGBT switching terminals, use short broad conductors and minimize commutation-loop area.

What temperature limits apply?

The MKPD case-temperature range is -40°C to +105°C. From 85°C to 105°C, apply the specified voltage derating of 1.33% per °C.
